I fell in love with this pink gingham dress the moment I set eyes on it! It reminds me of a vintage country album cover. I know its a little costumey but I love the fit, and the scalloped edge on the skirt. I paired it with tights and a green jacket.

I have been finding the sweetest little treasures for our home at garage sales. Here are some of my favorites.
1. Mid-century love seat with a zig zag pattern. It goes perfectly in our living room. May get it reupholstered one day.($45)
2. Bride Paper Dolls from the fifties. I am thinking of framing them. They are so adorable.($2)
3. Vintage Coffee Pot with a star burst pattern. ($2)

Craft Show

I participated in a long overdue craft show recently. It was at Qualcomm, a place where many of my girlfriends work. I set up shop outdoors on a very cold day. It was fun getting out and meeting people face to face.

Oldie but a Goodie

Nick, Owen and I have been going to garage sales at the crack of dawn every Saturday. It has been so much fun. I have been looking for a small mid century table to put my record player on. When I saw this I fell in love! A record player for my record player. It was priced at $25, but since it doesn't work we got it for $10. It looks so cute in our little home.

First Aid Kit

Last week I took a little road trip with my best friend. One of our FAVORITE bands First Aid Kit was playing in L.A.
It's so rare that we go to a show, let alone one that's 2 hours away. But we were so glad we went. The Swedish sisters Johanna and Klara looked so beautiful and their voices were amazing! We got choked up listening to them sing our favorite songs.

I have been away for so very long. I apologize for that. I was busy getting married!
It was a diy ceremony all the way. Lots of time designing, sewing, and crafting. So now this newlywed is anxious to get back to work.

As for right now I have the photos from my bridal shower. It was such a wonderful party thrown together my my best girlfriends. Lots of diy touches. Enjoy the pictures!

Living in San Diego, I look forward to Comic Con every summer. This year I cant wait to see the cast of Sons of Anarchy(again)!!! The people watching could entertain me all weekend. So many people dress up very elaborately. Sometimes its nice to show up in a little comic themed summer dress.

So, I finally did a Fashion Show after 2 years. I would never have done it, if it were not for my models. They are beautiful, dependable, and so hilarious! We had such a great time getting ready and joking around together. It was one of the hottest days of the summer, around 100 degrees. The Ruby Room was so hot and stuffy, that we decided to get our makeup done outside. Here are some photos of the prep before the show.

I had a wonderful weekend! I went to Garage Sales bright and early with my man. We both found lots of goodies for just a few bucks. I always prefer to sleep in rather than get up early to drive around yard sales, but once I find my first treasure of the day I'm hooked!

The Loft

My pal Holly and I went on a fun little adventure the other day. Holly's sister works in the costume department of a local theater company. We got to go up in the costume loft and look around. It was overwhelming! Clothes and costumes from every time period. Racks stacked up to the ceiling. Bins of shoes, gloves, hats, and purses. I wanted to go shopping, but sadly I could only look at the vintage goodies. However, I hear that they rent their costumes for a small fee....... I may have to do that.

Fashion under Construction

I have been wanting to share "before and after" photos on the blog for awhile now. The problem is that I ALWAYS forget to take a before photo. I'm gonna try to post these transformations more regularly. The finished look is something I envision at the thrift store the moment I set eyes on it. One of my favorite moments is seeing the item on a model once its completed.

I fell in love. Visually this movie was everything I love about the 1930's. The fashion was to die for. The story was riveting. I want to see it again just to soak up Reese Witherspoons wardrobe.

I have been busy listing prom dresses for sale. I got a little nostalgic, and thought it would be funny to share my 2 prom experiences with you. I went to my high school prom in 1997, and then to me ex boyfriends prom in 1998. (all I see in these photos are eyebrows, where the heck are they? I plucked them so thin. agghhh)

The black vintage dress was from a Resale shop called RAGS. Its cost $15. I added a white feather boa. Long black gloves, that I sewed rhinestones to. Then I topped it all off with a rhinestone tiara from the thrift store. What I remember most about this night was DRAMA. I went in a limo with 2 other couples. One girl was angry at her boyfriend the whole time. The other couple got separated when the guy got kicked out. And as usual I was not getting along with my boyfriend either. But I did have fun dancing with my girlfriends all night.

This was my younger boyfriends prom. It was alot more fun. We went in a huge group. I reconstructed a wedding dress I found at the thrift store. I cut off the bodice. Then I added a piece of tulle with ribbon as a shawl. I wore creepers with stripe socks. I adorned myself with vintage rhinestone jewelry. This outfit cracks me up. I am proud of myself for using my sewing machine. The lovely brunette on my right is Sheri my beloved photographer ;)

Retro Lingerie Shoot

This is the result of our shoot a month ago.
I wanted to do a soft, muted lingerie shoot. So I reconstructed some vintage nighties to make them more modern. We wanted a sophisticated sleepover feel. I love how the hair (Quinn Kerrigan), and makeup (Morgan Gates) turned out. We used Quinn's amazing bedroom as our backdrop. There will be more looks to come from this shoot.

I have had this vintage navy blue dress for years. It is a staple in my vintage wardrobe. The belt was thrifted. The E.T. purse was a trade on etsy (I love that movie, and Drew Barrymore). The Boots were thrifted. The black tights were 3 for $10 in the L.A. garment district. Sunglasses $5 swapmeet.

Michelle Tanner!

I made a fun discovery the other day. While Antiquing with my honey I discovered the Michelle Tanner doll. I grew up watching Full House, and now they are running it on Nickelodeon. So I burst out laughing when I saw this doll. First of all its weird looking. The batteries were really low, so when we made her talk it sounded like a drunk robot. It is so cliche to be a girl, and LOVE shoes. But.... I daydream about one day having so much money that I can buy shoes with no guilt. I am in love with the 70s style. I love Cherokee wedges, and platforms. It is so rare that I find them in the thrift store anymore. Luckily, I can go on etsy and eBay and find them in my size. Just looking at these photos gets my heart beating!

Snow Day!

I recently went to Idaho to visit my sister in law. She is a photographer. We laughed about how she hadn't taken my picture in years! So we went out into the 13 degree weather and took photos before we froze. We literally sat in the heated car, leaped out, snapped shots, and jumped back in the car shivering and cracking up! It was so much fun!

Working from home can really affect my attire. I often wear pajamas all day long. Unless I have to go to the post office, or take my son to school, its usually a no makeup, sweatpants day. So I am trying to re kindle my love of fashion in my own life. I have a closet full of clothes, and I am attempting to wear them. My own personal favorite blogs, are those that share what they themselves wear. So every week I will show you my favorite outfits.

This is a vintage red square dancing dress from the thrift store. I love the ruffles. It had a panel of fabric on the bust that I cut off. Making the dress more low cut. I Paired it with black and white heels. Sparkle bow from my Lynn's Rags shop.

I had a wonderful photo shoot yesterday. Sheri and I teamed up with Morgan Gates, and Quinn Kerrigan for professional hair and makeup. Then we got 3 awesome models Bethany, Meg, and Maggie. We decided to do a spring shoot in reconstructed vintage nighties (Lynn's Rags), in a bedroom scene.
It was such a great day, with great people. Its such a great feeling to turn an idea into a beautiful photograph. Here are some behind the scenes pics, while we wait for the real ones!

Bieber Fever

Owen and I went on a little date yesterday. We had to see the new Justin Bieber movie. Owen LOVES the song , " Never say Never." Its the theme song for the new Karate Kid movie. Owen sings every line, even the rap part. We had a great day at Grossmont Center. I am embarrassed to say I cried during this silly movie. Seeing Justin's parents in the audience crying just killed me :(

Wedding Style

This past summer I collaberated on a unique circus style wedding shoot (Tangerine Tree Photography ). I designed the wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses. Garment District Field trip

I had such a productive week. I threw my momma in the car and drove to the L.A. garment district. I was out of so much sewing supplies, and I couldn't take it anymore. I found some great deals and spent half the amount of money I was estimating. That was a pleasant surprise. I love it when my mom comes along. She is hilarious and a big help. We stocked up on thread, elastic, fabric, and jewelry. I should be good for several months!

I had a little girl night last week. The female festivities consisted of seeing a movie called, " Blue Valentine." I love Ryan Gosling and will see anything with him in it. Bowling Night

We took Owen bowling for part 1 of his Birthday celebration. I brought my own pink ball with my name on it. We had a blast with family and friends. I am very competitive when it it comes to any game, so imagine how excited I was when I kicked everyone's butt! Owen got thrown in the air when he got a STRIKE! He was so excited he break danced on the alley. It was a blast!

The other day my girlfriend Tina and I took our broke asses to the mall to spend some Christmas gift cards. I wore a vintage red blouse I purchased for $10 in San Francisco. I love how bright red it is. It looks a little like a maternity top, so I tied it in the front, instead of in the back. I paired it with skinny jeans, vintage sandals, and a light sweater. Very comfy shopping outfit ;)

Here and there my photographer friend Sheri (tangerinetreephotography.com) and I get together and plan an extravagant Fashion Shoot with hair and makeup artists, models and a theme. This Sexy Secretary shoot was done in 2007. We planned and planned..... then I had to leave early because my B.F.F. went into labor with her first baby. This is the only time I have not been present for a photo shoot, but my clothes were there...... enjoy this blast from the past. I cant wait to do another one soon!

Creative Work Space

I thought I would share with you my little sanctuary. The little place I spend most of my time. There is a little green garden shed in my backyard. It is filled with fabric, clothes, thread, sequins, 4 sewing machines, and vintage knick knacks. It is here that I sew and create all of my Lynn's Rags goodies. It is such a cozy little place. I go in there at all hours and just make what my heart desires.

My little Brother Lucas had a house show the other night. It was his first time playing in his new band, The Vipers. He was so cute in his vintage red shirt sister got him for Christmas. I went to shows and parties all the time in my twenties. Now its so funny. I feel like the old momma there. Its nostalgic and fun, but I also feel like I need to get to bed by 10pm. Lights & Cocoa

My Cousin Amanda (also my B.F.F) and I took the kids to look at Christmas lights the night before X-mas eve. We made hot cocoa and got in our jammies. We headed to Candy Cane lane in El Cajon. We sat in line for a while, then we got to drive slowly looking at ll the lights. The kids were so cute! There was a lit up Sponge Bob and Owen yelled " Sponge Bob you are my favorite show on Nickelodeon." It was so funny! There was even a Santa Claus passing out candy canes to the cars.

Crazy Holidays

I am so tired! This week of Holiday get togethers with family and friends has wiped me out. It all began when my girlfriend Simmone came to town from Baltimore. We headed to the local Karaoke bar to catch up. Then a few nights later we had a game night. This is a tradition we try to carry on year after year at this time.

Had a great time last night. Getting dressed up to hang with the gang. Having a White Elephant exchange and laughing alot! My girlfriend Quinn is the hostess with the mostess. She goes all out preparing the most delicious vegetarian treats. I feel so lucky to have such great people in my life.

Day in the Sunshine

Owen, Nick and I got up super early today. We were selling our old junk at the swapmeet. It was a long day but it felt good to clean out old stuff and make a little cash. Nick found Owen a homemade slingshot (kind of dangerous right?). Then we were visited by some friends. Uncle Luke being one of them.
Owen sold some old toys and bought a cop set (that's where the cool glasses came from). And of course Oweee dressed up in some of my old clothes just for fun. Any excuse to play dress up for that boy!

So, I have a 6 year old son named Owen. He is obsessed with clothes. Its awesome. He loves to put together costumes and outfits. Being a thrift store loving mom, I find him lots of goodies. One of my favorite stories is the time I bough him a black blazer. It was 2 bucks and looked like his size.
I gave it to him and he said,
"oh my gosh I always wanted a black one! You are the best mom ever. Can I put it on right now?"
I thought that was hilarious. What little boy gets excited about dressy clothes?

I had the best time this weekend. My sweet Hag (that's our nickname for each other) turned 29 years old. We went out on the town for a little girl night. Amanda (hag) is my cousin and best friend. She is the single mommy of 2 and rarely sees a night out sans children. We took her out for a vegan meal, and a night of cocktails. The birthday Bitch sign was a fun find. It was on sale at Urban for $2.90. I am a sucker for a sale, and gold glitter ;)
